HeSSA and COVID-19

Hi all,

The HeSSA committee hopes that you and your loved ones are doing okay in these challenging times. As you will be aware, due to COVID-19 we cancelled our Welcome Event earlier in this month. It was disappointing that we had to cancel and were unable to see you all face-to-face, but a global pandemic and physical distancing won’t stop HeSSA forever.

For the foreseeable future, HeSSA’s events will be virtual. We are still ironing out the details on which online platforms we will be using (likely Microsoft Teams and Zoom) and need to re-confirm with our presenters, but we wanted to let you know what types of sessions HeSSA has planned. Our sessions will include:

  • Monthly webinars on a variety of topics related to research and professional development
  • Weekly 2 hour Shut Up and Write sessions to help keep you motivated and get words on a page
  • Monthly social drinks over Zoom (BYO drinks and snacks) to keep you connected with others

We will be releasing a calendar with more information on these events very soon.

As you can see (as you’re currently reading this), HeSSA has also started a blog and created a shared google doc full of great information and resources (under the resources link at the top of the page).

If you have any questions or if there is anything HeSSA can do to support you further, please reach out. Feedback on ways we can improve our delivery of content and resources is also welcome.

We hope that you continue to stay safe, and we will keep you updated on what our plans are for later this year.
